San Francisco, CA – In addition to the traditional barbecues this Labor Day, IFPTE Local 21 will join workers and families fighting back to defend democracy. On Monday, September 1, workers, unions, and community organizations in San Francisco will mobilize alongside thousands of others across the country for Workers Over Billionaires: A Labor Day of Action. The May Day Strong Coalition is organizing over 1,000 events nationwide to reject the billionaire takeover of government and to stand up for working people. This year, it’s more than a barbeque — it’s a fight for our lives.
“On this Labor Day, more than ever before, we stand united in the fight to defend workers’ rights and safeguard the very democracy that empowers us all,” said Kim Tavaglione, Executive Director of the San Francisco Labor Council.
The May Day Strong Coalition is spearheading over 1,000 coordinated actions nationwide to reject the billionaire agenda and build a country that puts working people first. Building on the series of mobilizations from Hands Off in April, May Day, No Kings, and Good Trouble, working people will come together to insist on fully funded schools, health care for all, and to defend against attacks on workers’ rights, immigrant families, and Black and brown communities.
